CORNEAL SENSITIVITY
If there is an indication that the
patient may have a decrease in corneal
sensitivity then it should be measured.
The common technique is to use a small
wisp of cotton. Bring the cotton wisp
in from the side of the patient and
lightly touch the cornea to determine
if there is a blink reflex.
More accurate techniques can be used such as the
Cochet-Bonnet aesthesiometer.
Corneal sensitivity varies with age,
eye color, corneal position, eye
closure and decreased oxygen.
